For generations of Singaporeans, a visit to the Science Centre is a core childhood memory. It’s a place of pure wonder, where the laws of physics come alive in a flash of lightning from a Tesla coil, where you can walk through a giant human heart, and where illusions trick your brain in the most delightful way.
During the school holidays, it’s the perfect destination: fully air-conditioned, endlessly entertaining, and secretly educational. But with over 1,000 interactive exhibits spread across numerous galleries, its sheer size can be daunting for parents trying to plan a fun and stress-free day.
Consider this your mission briefing. We’ve created the ultimate parent’s guide to help you navigate the day, find the best exhibits for your kids, and ensure the whole family has an amazing, comfortable, and memorable adventure.

Before You Go: A Smart Parent's Pre-Flight Checklist
A little preparation is the secret to a flawless day. Ticking off these boxes before you leave home will save you time and stress.
Book Your Tickets Online: This is the most important tip. Queues at the entrance, especially during the school holidays, can be long. Book your tickets on the official Science Centre website a day or two in advance to walk right past the lines. Consider the combo tickets that include add-on attractions like the Omni-Theatre or KidsSTOP™.
Check the Showtimes: The daily demonstrations are the highlight for many visitors. The spectacular Fire Tornado and the electrifying Tesla Coil shows are absolute must-sees. Check the schedule online and plan your route through the galleries around these can't-miss events.
Gear Up in the "Explorer's Uniform": This is a long day of walking, exploring, and touching everything in sight. Comfort is non-negotiable.
The Kids' Armour: We highly recommend our Anti-Stain T-shirt as the perfect "lab coat" for your little scientist. It provides a brilliant layer of protection against accidental spills from water-play exhibits or drips from their lunchtime ice cream, giving you peace of mind.
Comfort for the Whole Crew: For all-day comfort, the Dri-Fit Performance Tee is an excellent choice for the entire family. It’s highly breathable and wicks away any moisture from the commute, keeping everyone feeling fresh and comfortable from the first exhibit to the last.
Navigating the Main Halls: The Unmissable Exhibits
Don't try to see everything. Instead, have a "must-see" list and treat anything else as a bonus. Here are some of the long-standing fan favourites:
The Mind's Eye: A fascinating gallery full of mind-bending optical illusions. It’s a fun and interactive way to show kids (and adults!) that you can’t always believe what you see, sparking great conversations about our brain and perception.
Professor Crackitt's Light Fantastic: Get lost in this life-sized mirror maze! It’s a visually spectacular and endlessly entertaining experience as you try to navigate your way through the seemingly infinite reflections.
Earth Alive: Witness our planet's power. This hall features a giant, internally-lit globe that displays various global phenomena, as well as an exhibit that simulates an earthquake. It's a powerful and memorable way to learn about geology.
Is KidsSTOP™ Worth It? (A Resounding YES for Younger Kids!)
If you have children between 18 months and 8 years old, KidsSTOP™ is an absolute must-do.
What It Is: A separate, ticketed "mini-science centre" within the main building, designed specifically for younger children.
Why It's Great: It’s a massive space dedicated to the principle of "learn through play." It’s not a "look but don't touch" museum. Here, kids are encouraged to touch, explore, and experiment. Highlights include The Big Dream Climber (a giant two-story climbing structure), the Dino Pit for aspiring palaeontologists, and a Supermarket zone for role-playing fun. For younger kids, this will likely be the highlight of their entire day.

The Spontaneous Trip Hack: Gearing Up On-the-Go
Woke up with no plans and decided on a spontaneous trip to the Science Centre, but no one is dressed for a full day of walking? Don't let your wardrobe cancel the fun!
Our vending machine at Bukit Timah Plaza is a convenient pit stop on the way for many families travelling from across the island. In just 60 seconds, you can grab fresh, comfortable, and adventure-ready tees for the whole family, ensuring your impromptu day out is a comfortable one.
FAQ – Your Science Centre Mission Debrief
Q1: How do I get to the Science Centre by public transport? A: The nearest MRT station is Jurong East (NS1/EW24). From there, it's about an 8-10 minute walk. Alternatively, you can take buses 66 or 335 from the Jurong East Bus Interchange, which will drop you right outside.
Q2: What are the food options inside the Science Centre? A: There are several F&B options available, including a Coffee Bee an outlet serving local and Western fare, and smaller snack kiosks. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks and water.
Q3: How much time should I budget for a visit? A: To comfortably explore 2-3 main exhibition halls and see a show, budget at least 3-4 hours. If you plan to visit KidsSTOP™ or the Omni-Theatre as well, we recommend setting aside 5-6 hours or the entire day.
